Cambridge City Council
Cambridge City Council has awarded four contracts through our Rooftop Development Framework, developed with, and managed on behalf of, Watford Community Housing.
Potter Raper has been appointed to act as Employer’s Agent and ECD Architects as Architect for Cambridge City Council’s pilot study for rooftop development with associated energy efficient refurbishment of homes. The work aims to prove feasibility, with the outcome of a deliverable housing scheme being targeted. Harley Haddow and Langley Structures have also been appointed as Structural Engineers and Superstructure designer respectively and will be providing detailed information as part of the project team.
If the pilot study is successful, it could place the council in a position to roll out a pipeline of replicable rooftop developments across existing housing stock.
The programme will also include energy efficiency retrofit, fire and safety improvement work to existing low-rise blocks of flats, and all new homes will be benchmarked against Passivhaus performance standards.
