Next steps in construction reform discussed at Westminster Insight Building Safety Conference
Pretium Frameworks’ Business Development Manager Millie Davis attended the Westminster Insight Building Safety Conference in London on 10 February. The event brought together professionals and experts from across the housing sector to explore the latest updates in building safety legislation and best practice.
The conference focused on the scale of change currently taking place across the sector and what this means in practice for housing providers, contractors, and duty holders. Catherine Adams, Director of Building Systems and Insight at the Ministry of Housing, discussed next steps in construction reform, reflections from Phase 2 of the Grenfell Inquiry, and the future approach to standard residential homes.
Helen Fisher, Director of the Cladding Safety Scheme at Homes England, provided an overview of funding and remediation activity within the Cladding Safety Scheme (CSS), alongside work underway to simplify and improve remediation processes.
Charlie Pugsley, Chief Executive Officer of the Building Safety Regulator (BSR), addressed areas of guidance where the sector continues to seek clarity, sharing insight into case reviews, cladding remediation processes, and the impact Gateway approvals are having on project delivery. He also indicated that certain minor works may in future fall outside of the BSR application process.
Petronila Osodo, Head of Remediation at Notting Hill Genesis, outlined the organisation’s programme to remediate all affected buildings. Notting Hill Genesis currently has 172 buildings within scope, including 65 high-rise buildings, with around 70 remediation projects already completed.
Millie met with organisations and industry colleagues to discuss how Pretium’s range of frameworks, including the Hyde Building and Fire Safety Framework, can support building safety compliance, improve safety outcomes, and provide consistent, auditable processes across portfolios.

This was Millie’s first event of the new year. Read next how one Business Development Manager, Joe Taylor, got on when he attended the NHMF Conference last month.
