Pretium has supported the Skills Builder Accelerator throughout the 2024–25 academic year, helping to improve life chances for young people.

The programme has delivered significant impact across three schools and specialist settings in London, the North West, and the South West.

Through Pretium’s support, via the social value throughput of the Guinness Asset and Property Management Consultancy framework, 450 learners received structured essential skills education and 44 teachers were trained to deliver the programme.

The year-long, evidence-based programme helps schools embed essential skills, such as speaking, listening, teamwork, and problem-solving, into everyday learning.

It aims to strengthen careers provision, helping young people articulate their skills and link them to the world of work, and support learning, particularly for students with additional needs.

In this year’s Skills Builder report:

  • 97% of teachers reported a positive impact on their school
  • 89% increased their confidence in teaching essential skills
  • 87% saw clear progress in learner development

A standout example comes from Inscape House School, a specialist setting for young people with autism. The Accelerator enabled a whole-school approach to essential skills, embedding them across the curriculum and work experience, and strengthening employer partnership, with companies such as Mercedes.

Director of Pretium Frameworks, Jessica John said: “We are proud to have supported the Skills Builder Accelerator and to see the meaningful difference it has made for teachers and learners this year.

“It has been inspiring to witness the impact of this programme, and we are pleased to have been able to contribute to work that strengthens essential skills and helps build brighter future, through this framework’s social value offer.”
